A 4x4 collects you from your building, drives about 45–60 minutes to the red dunes of Lahbab, Al Awir or the Dubai Desert Conservation Reserve, and the driver ‘bashes’ the dunes before you stop for sandboarding, a camel ride and sunset photos. Evening safaris end at a Bedouin-style camp with a barbecue buffet and shows (tanoura, fire and belly dance); morning safaris skip the dinner and are cooler and shorter.
